We all know what Facebook is… A social networking tool helping us to communicate with our friends and relatives. February 2004, when Facebook was founded, no one ever thought that it will revolutionize the way people look at internet and online marketing. Today Facebook is a part of millions of lives. And it has been proved by Facebook by becoming the top brand in the list of gaining brand values. Last year, brand value of Facebook rose by 246% making it the top rising brand.

One can estimate the popularity of Facebook with the fact that a movie with the name “The Social Networking” was made to display the journey of the social networking revolution by Facebook. With more than 600 million users around the globe, Facebook has become the most powerful and favorite advertising spot for companies and brand managers. With the total brand value of $19,102 million, Facebook has reached to the rank # 35 in the list of Top brands.

The next most promising brand is again from internet and is Chinese search engine Baidu, with a whopping rise of 141 percent in its brand value in comparison to last year. With a user base of 1.3 billion, Baidu has gained popularity among Chinese citizen due to its deep understanding of China and its cultural differences.

If we talk about the top 20 risers, we can find more technical brands joining Facebook and Baidu with the phenomenal growth into internet users, its use into daily life and shopping. We have brands like Apple, Pizza Hut, Standard Chartered, Amazon, Starbucks, UPS and others. And these brands are in the list because of some exceptional leadership skills shown by their leaders.

Such an example is of Starbucks who has shown how small change in brand strategy can get you a rise of 40% in your brand value. Howard Shultz, CEO – Starbucks, put all his efforts solely to revitalize the brand by taking steps to improve the overall experience for coffee house and extending brand into instant coffee.

Similarly the efforts put by online shopping company Amazon have significantly changed the way people shop. Amazon has passed Walmart and has established itself as the most valuable retail brand around the globe.  Since its inception way back in 1995, Amazon has worked in making its system perfect and to build a brand loyalty, which has paid them now by making Amazon as one of the most trusted brands.
